Domestic

BACKGROUND

The domestic team of our chapter is located in Auburn, Alabama. With a population of 75,000 people, Auburn is one of the most populated areas in the state of Alabama. This had led to issues regarding water quality in the local waterways. Our current project is designed to evaluate the quality of these local waterways and find the source of this issue.

CURRENT PROGRESS

We have started taking samples throughout our area and narrowing down where the issues may arise. This is done by taking samples and measuring the amount of E Coli found in the water. These samples show us the levels of E Coli found in our local waterways and whether this water is safe or not. Our team is currently working on increasing our scope of work and expanding our capabilities.

LOCAL OUTREACH

Since our team is based in Auburn itself, we also want to increase our community outreach and foster local relationships. We have taken on smaller projects such as local cleanup days, working with other organizations on campus, and working with campus food banks that help Auburn students.
